Champions in the field and the home
Simply put, attention to detail. It all starts with the time and effort we put into our British Labrador puppies. After all, every gundog starts as a little pup, a blank slate. We are committed to raising your next gundog without compromises. From health & wellness to socialization, enrichment and learning, we are dedicated to doing everything that we can to produce the highest quality British Labrador pup available. It all starts with top tier pedigree, health and temperament standards. This is merely the beginning of the process, and it is our goal to send you and your new British Labrador pup home with all the resources necessary to develop a champion in the field and the home.
WHAT SETS LIVINGSTON GUNDOGS APART?
What we do
-
The true UK standard for a Labrador retriever is found just where you would imagine, in the UK. The fact of the matter is that as long as the UK field trialing system remains unique to the UK, the core of the British Labrador breed will also. Throughout the years we have forged relationships that allow us to import health tested, top tier pedigreed dams and sires for our program. Very, very few of our pups have the opportunity to enter our breeding program. Rigorous health testing and a very high standard in temperament must be exemplified to be considered for breeding. We believe that this is necessary to stay true to these roots, and remain a “first generation” British Labrador breeding operation.

We breed roughly four litters of British Labrador puppies at both of our locations each year. It is our goal to meticulously plan pairings that will produce consistent temperaments and abilities in the field and home. Over the years we have chosen to import particular studs and also purchase frozen semen to pair with our chosen dams. Contact us or visit our puppies page for information on upcoming litters.

Our training mentality is centered around positive reinforcement, but, as any gundog trainer worth his salt will tell you, it can’t all be fairy tales and rainbows. Our goal is to build trust and confidence at a young age through proper socialization, teaching and structure. This sets the dog up for success as consequences, reprimands, and pressure are incorporated into their lives. Although we believe that e-collars can be great tools for training, we choose to train our labradors without their use. It is our goal to train the dog in front of us as the individual that they are. This means that we must take into consideration their breeding, life experiences, strengths, weaknesses and the pace at which they learn best. We focus heavily on obedience and manners, and believe that these two things are paramount for building a champion in the field and the home.
